Old - New

The L-shaped office building on Városmajor Street, built in 1972, was renovated by drawing on the architectural traditions of the 1970s while incorporating modern solutions adapted to contemporary needs. The site’s 8-meter level difference and the panoramic view of the castle presented a significant design challenge, which was addressed by retaining the structural framework and considering both ecological and logistical aspects.

Exterior appearance

The building’s exterior was adapted to the surrounding urban context while maintaining permeability from the street to the courtyard, where a bistro-café serves the community life. At the rear of the site, the natural vegetation is emphasized, harmonizing with the light, white façades. The solid, clean 1970s style is reinterpreted using modern metal louvers and perforated panels.

Contemporary interior

Inside, a glass corridor connects wings A, B, and C without level changes, facilitating circulation and access to the spaces. The goal of the revitalization was to create a Class A, modern office building that not only meets the highest tenant standards but also respects the building’s history and architectural value. With new functions and contemporary solutions, the building is ready to remain a prominent player in Budapest’s office market for the next 50 years.

Ecology

Particular attention was also given to ensuring that the renovated building employs sustainable and environmentally friendly solutions. While retaining the existing structure, energy-efficient technologies and materials were integrated to reduce the building’s ecological footprint. In this way, the revitalization contributes not only architecturally and functionally but also environmentally, supporting the development of the urban environment.
