Urban Integration

The Westfalia Building is located in Lőportárdűlő, in Budapest's 13th District, within a transitional urban zone where the traditional inner-city blocks meet newer residential developments. With its compact, simple massing and seven-storey structure above ground level, the building integrates naturally into its diverse surroundings.

Façade Composition

The building has two distinct faces, clearly differentiated in both appearance and spatial character. The street façade is clad in dark brick, giving the building a strong and distinctive identity while harmonizing with the surrounding urban fabric through its materiality and rhythmic composition. The brick surfaces alternate with a regular yet restrained arrangement of windows, creating a generous and contextually appropriate street presence.

In contrast, the garden-facing façade features a light-colored rendered finish, giving the building a more open and welcoming character. Here, the carefully composed yet subtly varied rhythm of the balconies softens the rigidity of the frontal composition, creating an intimate, residential atmosphere and establishing a direct relationship with the enclosed landscaped courtyard.

Spatial Organization

The apartments are organized around a central corridor system that opens toward the garden as an open-access gallery corridor. Ranging from compact studio apartments to multi-bedroom homes, each unit includes a terrace or balcony, ensuring ample natural daylight and good solar exposure.
