The building is a three-apartment luxury villa on the side of Széchényi Hill, in one of the most unique panoramic areas of Budapest. All three apartments have their own garden with the same stunning view, and three parking spaces are provided per apartment.

Integration

The programme is accommodated within a distinctively articulated building that integrates into the unique landscape as a composition of rock-like volumes. The large glazed surfaces and natural stone cladding sourced from the quarry in Süttő, together with the landscape design elements, create a distinctive interplay of space, light, and materiality.

Massing

The building was conceived as a terraced house. The green roof allows the building volume to be partially concealed, ensuring that despite its scale, it does not appear imposing within the mountainous landscape. The volume rising above ground level is articulated by triangular, prismatic elements, reminiscent of the logic of a Rubik’s Snake. The rotated blocks create a playful, slightly irregular composition. The double-height spaces accommodate the communal functions, such as the living room and dining area. The private areas, including the bedrooms, bathrooms, and walk-in wardrobes, are located beneath the terraces covered with green roofs.

Material usage

Due to the extreme sculptural quality of the massing, no additional architectural gestures were introduced: the façades are defined solely by glass surfaces that soften the building’s heavy, stone-like character. The limestone cladding envelops the volume homogeneously, continuing seamlessly onto the roof. The individual prisms that make up the building thus become monumental building blocks carved from a monolithic mass of stone, reduced to the appearance of fragmented shards.
